The Manipal Media Students’ Convention’s main objective is to be an interface between media professionals, students of media and students interested in media. The convention will be more than just a student event - it will be a formal event which would bring media professionals and students, stretching across different colleges of the nation, on the same platform.


We have chosen ‘Communication through the World Wide Web’ as the theme for this year’s event. Given its freshness compared to other mainstream media, the Internet gives us a wide scope of discussion and innovation. It is a known fact that this medium will only become bigger in the near future, thus having a pivotal role to play in the well being of the society. Hence, it is important for the next generation to be aware of its potential and extract as much mileage as possible from the medium.

The convention will have workshops, discussions, conferences, ‘un-conferences’ and paper presentations, and will provide the students an opportunity to interact with the media professionals from the industry.

The event will be thrown open to select colleges across the country and delegates (students) from the various colleges will be screened on the basis of a preliminary process and selected. Brochures will be sent to at least 200 colleges across the country.

On the basis of this screening, we will be sponsoring the travel and accommodation of 40 selected delegates from across the country. Any other delegate is free to walk into the event at his/her own cost. The event is open to all.
